Calamansi Juice

It’s Memorial day today and summer has officially arrived with all its fun and sun. What better way to greet the fiery brute than a refreshing, icy cold pitcher of calamansi juice?


You can cut through the steps by simply stirring in the sugar to the calamansi mixture but I like to take the extra effort of making simple syrup to use in my fruit juices. As we all know, sugar doesn’t really dissolve well in cold liquids and usually just settles in the bottom. Heating it in equal parts of water until fully dissolved ensures your next glass of calamansi juice is beautifully sweetened. Enjoy!

Yield: 6 Servings
    • ¾ cup sugar
    • 4 cups water
    • 1 cup calamansi juice
  1. In a saucepan, heat, stirring occasionally, the sugar and 1 cup of the water until sugar is dissolved. Allow to cool.
  2. Extract juice from calamansi and discard seeds and skin.
  3. In a pitcher, combine calamansi juice, simple syrup and the remaining 3 cups of water. Stir well to combine. Chill in refrigerator for a few hours or serve over ice.
